BranChE Day 2026

On the 10th of March, the BranChE Day took place. During this day, around 25 master students joined two lectures and one case at restaurant Bardot. The first lecture was given by Thomas Brouwer, PhD from HoSt Group - Bioenergy Systems on a project he did on the production of food-grade liquified CO2 from flue gas. With this, he gave us a great impression how to go from concept to product.

After a coffee break, Bart Zwijnenburg from Nobian gave a lecture on the work Nobian does and how they are improving the efficiency of their current processes. He also spoke about the research they conduct at the Innovation Center here on Campus. After this lecture we enjoyed a nice lunch.

Then Zeton gave us a case in which we had to design a process wherein plastic was recycled, led by Maarten Ladrak, Jochem Tijburg and Jules Borggreve. During this case, we could choose from 4 different feed streams, and they gave us 3 possible processes we could use, though they also encouraged us to be creative. We had to design a pilot plant that could fit with the room and equipment they have a Zeton, which gave us a good insight into practical things that need to be considered.

We ended the day with a nice drink. We had an amazing day and would like to thank the participating companies for this.
