In today's world, the topic of sustainability is becoming bigger and bigger. And to classify it, is quite the challenge. For this purpose, it has be divided into the following categories: 'Water treatment' and 'Plastics'. Of course, there are far more categories, but most others can found at different places in the diagram.

Water Treatment

Plastics

With water treatment, you focus on, as the name suggests, treatment of water. This is usually to remove pollutants from the water so it can safely be used or returned to the environment.

This can be done through separation, such as filtration or membrane technology, but also by creating reactions to get rid of unwanted substances. The jobs you can think of for this are for example:

The field of plastics is traditionally, of course, not thought of as sustainable, as they are hard to break down and there exists a large number of single-use plastics on this planet. Of course, there are jobs like this where you can work.

However, you could also work on the development of new biodegradable plastics, or work on processes that recycle plastics either chemically - breaking down the bonds - or mechanically - reusing them as different plastic products. Furthermore, you can also focus on the creation of plastics from a different starting source than the traditional fossil fuels. There are, of course, quite a few jobs you can have in these fields, but we have limited it to the following:
