Consulting

A consultant is usually hired to help or consult on a problem that a company is facing that the consultant or consultancy agency is specialised in. If you are looking at this diagram, you probably have a technical background, so if you would go into the field of consultancy, you would consult on technical problems. When you just finished your education, you will most likely join a firm. However, it is also possible to start your own company, though it is more likely to succeed if you have industry experience and have become an 'expert' on a topic on which you can then thus consult.
