Do they do what they need to do? Efficiency of HEPA Filters & Mouth Masks
Do they do what they need to do? Efficiency of HEPA Filters & Mouth Masks
The behavior of aerosols within these fibrous filters is often treated as a ‘black-box’ (macroscale) or explained by looking at one single fiber (microscale). The challenge is to see what happens within the two extremes and visualize the overall transport mechanism. A way to do this is the experimentally measure aerosol concentration profiles inside geometries that mimic the filters. The goal of this master assignment to lay the first foundations for the design of comparable geometries in a silicon chip that mimic HEPA filters. The goal will be reached by using methods like making an simple algorithm for the geometry, modeling in COMSOL and reference experiments.
