Tuning the Growth of Chiral Gold Nanoparticles Through Chiral Molecules

Tuning the Growth of Chiral Gold Nanoparticles Through Chiral Molecules

You will synthesize chiral gold nanoparticles, focusing on the use of chiral molecules. You will assess the significance of tuning chiral morphologies and their impact on optical properties. Applications of the chiral morphologies will be assessed electrochemically. You will synthesize molecules like amino acids from biomass waste models.

Experimental Design

You will investigate experimentally the relationship between chiral inducer concentration and the resulting nanoparticle morphology. You will characterize chirality optically, and assess the feasibility of the chiral nanoparticles for electrosynthesis of chiral molecules.

Assignment: Propose an experimental setup to synthesize gold nanoparticles using varying concentrations of a chiral molecular inducer. Outline the procedures for nanoparticle synthesis, characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, circular dichroism spectroscopy), and analysis of morphological changes. For the electrosynthesis, you will assess the end products using NMR.

Expected Outcome: A comprehensive experimental proposal, including objectives, methodology, expected results, and potential challenges.

Application Development Study

To explore potential applications of chiral gold nanoparticles in modern electrochemistry. The importance of this work lies in the decentralization of processes dependent on ammonia and biomass raw materials. Think of a small system at a lab scale within a company producing small molecules for subsequent synthetic steps.
