HATNA-Based Polymers for Brain-Inspired Computing
Brain-inspired computing aims to replicate the function of biological neural networks using advanced materials. To realize this goal, it is important to develop a new type of molecular switch that can switch in the same way as synapses do. Hexaazatrinaphthylene (HATNA) is a promising molecule with synapse-like switching. In this project, HATNA-based polymers will be and to test the material’s properties for neuromorphic computing applications.
We are looking for a Bachelor/Master student to join this research, with the focus on the following depending on interest:
- How can the switching speed be increased?
- Can the stability be improved?
- How can processability be optimized to control film thickness and uniformity of HATNA polymer films, taking into account their chemical properties (such as solubility, molecular weight, and viscosity)?
- What are the electrical and physical properties of HATNA-based films, and how do they rate to switching mechanisms?
This research offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in polymer synthesis, device fabrication, and electrical characterization, contributing to the development of organic electronic devices that simulate brain-like processing.
