Smart biomaterials
The biointerfaces chemistry (BIC) research group at the University of Twente offers exciting BSc and MSc thesis opportunities for students eager to contribute to the development of smart biomaterial solutions. We work at the interface of materials, we synthesize and fabricate materials.
What we do:
We focus on the design, synthesis, and characterization of biomaterials, that can be molecules, peptides and polymers with applications in various fields. Your work will be in the lab, using advanced equipment in our laboratories. Our research includes:
Hydrogels and 3D printing: Utilizing natural polymers to create smart biomaterials. The smart materials respond to changes in their environment, that can be temperature, electrochemistry, enzymes, mechanical actuation, etc.
Anti-fouling biomaterials: Utilizing advanced coating solutions for making biomedical devices and constructs anti-fouling, that is resistant to adhesion of bacteria, proteins and cells.
What you can expect:
Cutting-edge research: Engage in impactful research within a dynamic and supportive team.
Expert guidance: Receive mentorship from experienced researchers in the field of smart biomaterials and interfaces.
