Jordi Boon

MSc Chemical and Process Engineering

Hi, my name is Jordi Boon, I am 22 years old, and I am studying Chemical Science and Engineering. Last year I had the pleasure of being the Treasurer of C.T.S.G. Alembic. This year I will be finishing my Bachelor's degree. In my spare time, I enjoy playing volleyball and football. Furthermore, I like to have some drinks with my friends or with my housemates while watching some football games or Formula 1. For the Study Tour, I am part of the Main Committee and simultaneously the chairman of the acquisition committee. We are responsible for acquiring CR-cases and sponsoring to fund the Study Tour.

Jeannet Schroten

MSc Molecular and Materials Engineering

Hello, my name is Jeannet Schroten and I’m 24 years old. I’m currently a first-year master student of the materials science track of Chemical Engineering. Next to my studies I am active in multiple committees of the study association, where I have also been active as a board member in the past. Furthermore, I like diving into fantasy worlds playing video games, trying out different sports and crafts, and socializing with my sorority. For this study tour I am part of the main committee, which keeps an overview over the organization. My role specifically is being chair of the administration committee, which manages the finances and makes sure the study tour runs smoothly from a financial point of view. I am looking forward to seeing more of the world, as I have never been outside of Europe before!

Jurrie Bruggeman

Hi, I am a master's student in Sustainable Energy Technology and Applied Physics, which I started this year after finishing my bachelor of Chemical Science & Engineering. I'm mainly interested in learning about material science and sustainability. In my free time, I like to play games with my friends, sport a bit, and join my fellow students at Alembic activities, where I have also been a member of the board a few years ago. As chairman of the BuCo 2022, it is my task to keep a general overview of the organization of the study tour. I am very much looking forward to visiting Japan next summer!

Hi! My name is Niels, 23 years old and a master student in Chemical & Process Engineering. I participated in various committees over the years in our study association, C.T.S.G. Alembic, which eventually led to me doing a full-time board year. As chairman of the Acquisition Committee and part of the Main Committee, I am responsible for acquiring CR cases and sponsoring to fund the Study Tour. In my spare time, I like to play football and have some drinks with friends or roommates. I enjoyed my years at the scouting very much. I am very excited to be going on the Study Tour to Japan and I am looking forward to finding out what the chemical industry and culture have to offer!

Tim Bekius

Hi there, my name is Tim Bekius, and I am 22 years old. I just started my master in the molecules & materials track at the University of Twente. In my free time, I like to do all kinds of sports, such as cycling and playing tennis. I am also doing a part time board year for a sports association at the university, and like to spend time with my friends. Furthermore, I am very involved with the association, C.T.S.G. Alembic. Within the study tour committee, I am part of the travel committee. This committee is responsible for the planning of the trip, as well as organizing visits to companies and universities in Japan. I am very much looking forward to organising this trip, but even more to actually exploring the beautiful country of Japan.

Bart Claassen

Hi! My name is Bart and I currently follow the Masters programme Chemical & Process Engineering. I specifically enjoy process flowsheet design, process equipment design and the aspect of sustainability in process engineering. Last year I decided to do a board year and together with five others organised the official introduction period of the University of Twente: the Kick-In. I did this in order to broaden my skill set, improving in setting priorities, planning and managing expectations of other parties by doing so. During my spare time I like to play football at the local association, watch Formula 1, hang out with my roommates and friends and listen to music or play the saxophone or piano.

Hello Everyone, I am Kevin Smeele the current secretary of the 59th board of C.T.S.G. Alembic. Currently I am bachelor student, however I plan to finish my bachelor this year. The goal is to get my last 8 EC this year, I already have finished my bachelor assignment. My main hobbies can be describes into two things Sports and gaming. As currenly, I go to the gym 4 times a week and try to play rugby 2 times a week. Another part of my life that I enjoy is the student life, as I am active in my association (as board and the Bar committee) and in my dispuut.

Jacob Franssen

Hey hey! My name is Jacob Franssen. I finished my bachelor chemical engineering last year and currently do the master Chemical Process Engineering. Besides studying I have been busy with doing committees at Alembic. I like it a lot to organize and participate in activities with fellow students and enjoy my time as a member of the study association Alembic. Besides that, I am also quite a fan of doing sports. This year I joined the sports associations Kronos and Diok to do mainly long-distance running and play badminton. Although my endurance is not there yet I hope to run a marathon one day. Joining the study tour is an amazing opportunity for me to see a very exciting part of the world. I am really looking forward to getting to know the Japanese culture and visit chemical companies here. For me, It will be a very unique experience as I have never been outside Europe. As a member of the acquisition committee, I will be in contact with chemical companies to find cases and sponsorship to finance the tour.

Gerard Groot Obbink

Hey hey!! My name is Gerard Groot Obbink. In September 2022, I started my masters in the field of Chemicals & Process Engineering. A few months earlier, I graduated my bachelor after researching the effects of temperature and pressure on the hydrogenolysis of polyolefins. I enjoy my time here in Enschede, where I try to develop myself by participating in multiple associations. For example, during the academic year of 2020 – 2021, I was the Chairman of study association C.T.S.G. Alembic. Currently, I also am faculty representative within Organisation of Study associations, which is an umbrella organisation for all study associations. For the study tour, I am member of the Design Committee since I like being busy creative.

Studying materials mostly because of polymers since I made bioplastics since primary school. I like sustainability and all green stuff, that is also my favorite color. Currently into cooking Indian food, making soap, and table tennis! Originally Serbian, but my Dutch friends say that I am more Dutch than them. I like cheese, begrijp Nederlands, maar =)

Jarno Sweers

I am currently in my fourth year of the bachelor of Chemical Science and Engineering as a 24-year-old student. After my bachelor, I will do a masters in one or multiple tracks that can be chosen after the bachelor. My interests are quite broad, from process engineering to the more material/nano related research. In my own time, I can be found at our study association C.T.S.G. Alembic, because I'm quite involved with the association. For example, I'm currently a member of 4 different committees, from which one I'm the chairman. Next to this, I have done a board-year at this association with some of the people that can be found on this page. To conclude, I'm an active student, and I'm eager to learn new skills and information. Therefore, my choice to participate in this Study Tour to Japan.

Konnichiwa, I am Yuqi! I am currently doing my master Chemical Science & Engineering on the track Molecules & Materials at the University of Twente. I am currently joining the study association, C.T.S.G Alembic, and have been a particiating on a number of committees such as the Education Committee and now th Graphics Committee . Other than that, in my free time I enjoy reading and doexercises. As one of the amazing members of the Graphics committee, it is our duty to update the website, make the logo and many other design related tasks. Furthermore, we are all working hard in our preparations in order to make the Study Tour in Japan a success! Hello everyone, I am Lotte and I just started my master of Chemical Process Engineering. Next to my studies, I am active at Alembic and SKV Vakgericht, the student korfball association. I did various committees at both associations and I also did a part-time board year at Vakgericht. As one could have guessed, I enjoy playing korfball, I play both in Enschede and in Steenwijk, where my parents live. Next to that, I enjoy spending time with my housemates, and I love to travel, which was also the reason why I wanted to join the study trip. I am looking forward to going to Japan and exploring their culture.

Hi all, I am Maarten de Groot and at the moment I am following the master program of CSE. Besides studying I have been active in various committees and boards. A few years back I was in the board of study association C.T.S.G. Alembic in which my main responsibilities were focussed on committees, active members and study trips, like this one. I am really looking forward to finally taking place myself in one of those trips. Last year I have also been the faculty representative of S&T, which includes among others CSE, on behalf of OS, the umbrella association of study associations at the UT.

Hello! I’m Max and currently following the BSc Chemical Science & Engineering for the 4th year, which I will (if everything goes according to plan) complete at the end of this year. After this, I am planning to start the Chemical & Process Engineering master. In my free time I like to hang out with my friends, be it with fun activities or just chilling with some beers. Otherwise, I like to play games (both video and tabletop) and watching series. I look forward to tagging along on this study trip!

Hello! My name is Niels Hakkert and I am currently in the second year of my masters Chemical Engineering, following the Chemistry and Process Engineering track. I am working as a student assistant at the university, where I help teachers with problems that they might encounter regarding the online teaching infrastructure that we use. Next to that, I am carrying out my internship until the end of 2022. At the start of 2023, I will be starting my Master thesis at the university. In my spare time I used to mountainbike, which I would like to get started on again soon. Furthermore, I like to be engaged in (sustainable) science and technology where possible in my spare time as well.

I am a master student in Chemical and Process Engineering at the UT. Previously, I did my bachelor in Chemical Science & Engineering here and graduated in July 2021. In my third year at the UT, I paused my study for a year to become part of the board of C.T.S.G. Alembic, the study association of chemistry students. As a board member, I had the function of Commissioner of Internal Affairs, which is mainly occupied with the committees, activities and IT of the association. Besides my studies, I enjoy going to Alembic activities and playing games in my free time.

Ruud Bonekamp

Hi! I am Ruud and I'm currently in the final phase of my Bachelor's degree. When I start my Master, I want to follow the Materials Track, combined with the Process track, since I believe many fields operate on the intersection of those areas. Furthermore, I like to organize various things. These include: The Open Days for Chemical Science and Engineering, this study tour and soft skill trainings. During my spare time, I like to live an active life. I can be regularly found at the sports center playing volleyball with my team, but also to be practicing ballroom dancing. Japan has always been interesting to me, due to its mix of western living standards and eastern culture. To conclude, I am really looking forward to the study tour!
