CFD simulations to assess the influence of flow cell geometry on NF membrane performance


The geometry of membrane cells and membrane modules heavily impacts the process performance of the membrane (i.e. different superficial velocity, will impact mass transfer, generating different concentration profiles). A better and systematic computational cross-comparison between different lab-pilot-real scale set-ups will help during results evaluation and comparison between different reported data, but also reduce experiments and variability during scale-up. During the project you will simulate fluid flow and chemical transport, analyze how these factors influence membrane behavior, and compare your results with experimental data. This hands-on project will also help you build essential soft skills in a dynamic research environment.
